Editing content

We provide you with all the tools to manage the content on your website.

Firstly you need to access the admin section of CMS.

http://<your domain>/admin

Once you have entered your Admin account and password you will find links to all the tools you require on the main index page.

There is also a navigation across the top of the page which is visible at all times, allowing easy access to all tools.

My Preferences

In My Account you can alter your account information; password, name and email address.

  • User Preferences contains many options for developers, do not change unless you know what you're doing.
  • Manage Shortcuts Under the My Preferences category you can access this area, it allows you to customize the shortcuts that appear on the main admin page.

Editing pages

Add new page:

3. Enter the Title (This is the title that appears on the top bar of the browser)
4. Enter the menu text (This is the text that is displayed on the menu)
5. Type in the content you wish to be displayed on the page. Click Submit.

The content field in the page editor should automatically create a margin for the text entered, if it does not press Enter and the cursor should correct itself. This may depend on the margin coded into the template, if you require a margin use the Indent button in the text editor panel.

In the page viewer click on the small rubbish bin icon to the right of the page name.

To delete multiple pages select the check box(es) and choose delete from the drop down menu under the list of pages and click Submit.

When in the page editor there are tabs along the top under the navigation (Main, Options, Preview), if you select the Options tab you can specify whether the page is active, if the link should be shown in the menu, additional members who can edit this page and accessibility options. The Preview tab allows the page to be viewed within the site before any content is committed.

Text editor icons

Most of these icons do the same functions as Microsoft Word. Eg. B is bold. Hover over the icon to get a brief of it's function.
Some useful icons are listed below

  • Insert CMS Link. This is handy if you want to link to a page but do not want the Menu Text to appear in the navigation.
  • Insert/Edit link. Text specified to be a link must be highlighted/selected in order for any linking in the page editor to work correctly. Highlight the link and click Unlink to return to normal text.
  • Insert/Edit anchor. This sets an anchor point within a page, you can then link to that point from somewhere else in the page using a link to the anchor name (eg. link to index.php#anchorpointname).
  • Insert/Edit image. The image must be uploaded to your image directory which is explained in the next step. The image window that pops up allows you to adjust the image in every way, from width and height to effects when the mouse rolls over the image.
  • Edit HTML Source. If you are familiar with HTML or using software like frontpage you may want to use this to edit pages. HTML code from frontpage can be pasted into the page source to give the desired output with very little tweaking needed to be done in the page editor.
